My husband isn't big on Valentines Day. We both think it is a terrible thing to spend so much money on one day a year to say, "I love you." Shouldn't that be done all year long? While Jonathan was in Korea he began having chocolate covered strawberries to work on February 11. Why the 11th? Well 11 is his favorite number.
This is the first year we have been together on February 11. With it falling on a Saturday and money being so tight I knew chocolate strawberries were not in my future. (Trust me, having him here is worth far more than those strawberries.) We have friends coming next week-end and we planned to celebrate with a couple's date night. However Jonathan had something else in mind.
Around 4:30 yesterday he woke me from my nap and told me I needed to be ready to leave at 5:30 and we were going on a date. I had LOTS of questions but for the most part he didn't give our destination away. He took me to the restaurant where we had our first "real date" after he spent his first 6 semester in Korea. It was at this restaurant that Jonathan says he KNEW he would one day ask me to marry him. The piano bar, The Quarry, is nothing like it appears on the outside. Inside it is breathtaking with dim lights, wonderful food and live music. The music this time left a lot to be desired but the experience was phenomenal.
The most amazing part was the way he orchestrated the details. He arranged for my dad to stay an extra night with us this week-end. My dad was more than happy to keep LA, which was perfect for all concerned. Jon made reservations and had been saving a little money for this date for weeks.
Wow I love this man. We have had our ups and downs since we got married due to job searches, relocation, and a 12 year old with trust issues but I will never forget this February 11. It took me back to the first 6 months of our courtship and confirmed that this was the man God had for me all along.
